Finding a Newspaper Article

Your Challenge: A brazen jewel heist has rocked the Louvre Museum in Paris! You have been recruited as a crack Library Detective to find the full report on this scandalous caper.

The clues:

Newspaper: the New York Times

Author: Catherine Porter

Publication Date: Oct 31, 2025

Solution

Access the Database: Go to the Library's A-Z guide to databases. Click on the "G" and then the Gale Academic OneFile link.

Filter by Publication and Date: On the search screen, enter New York Times in the Publication Title box.

Refined Keyword Search: In the main search box, enter a combination of keywords that focus on the event, and the author’s name:

(Louvre OR “Louvre Museum”) AND (jewel OR jewelry OR crown jewels) AND (heist or theft) AND Catherine Porter in the author field.

Set Content Type: De-select (uncheck) the “peer-reviewed journals” box under search limiters to focus on newspaper content.

Execute Search: Click “Search.”

Click on the "News" option at the top of the result list to filter results if necessary.

Success! You should find a list of articles, including one or more detailing the Louvre heist investigation and arrests on or around October 31. Specifically, the article titled "Five More Arrests Are Made in Louvre Theft Investigation" provides the information you are seeking.
