The William M. Logan Library houses the archives and special collections materials at Schreiner University. Collections include items that document the rich culture and history of the Texas Hill Country and contain materials such as, rare books, artifacts, photographs, manuscripts, maps, blueprints, family papers and newspapers. The library also houses university specific collections comprised of photographs, university and student publications, Schreiner Senior Theses, video and media recordings, faculty scholarship and memorabilia documenting the history of Schreiner as an Institute, College, and University.
The Sponsors were a proud tradition at Schreiner Institute. Though enrollment at that time was restricted to male students, each company of cadets was able to choose a female Sponsor. Sponsor uniforms were handed down from year to year and each Sponsor marched with her company in parades and at other events.
Special Collection materials are fragile, valuable, and in many cases, irreplaceable. Although the library strives to make access as easy as possible, the Library has taken certain measures to protect these items. Therefore, visitors must anticipate a time delay between requests and access of at least 48 hours.
Between May 12 and August 12 of each year, only limited access is available. Archival research assistance and access to unprocessed collections will be unavailable during this time. Please contact Special Collections at 830-792-7337 for additional information.
