Annual Reports Online  The Public Register's Annual Report service. View a company's annual report online or request a free hard copy.

BigCharts A free, comprehensive, and easy-to-use investment research web site providing access to professional-level research tools like interactive charts, quotes, industry analysis, intraday stock screeners, as well as market news & commentary. Includes access to Historical Stock Quotes

Companies Online Contains information on over 60,000 public and private US companies with web sites. There are several search options, but the main feature of the site is a hypertext connection to each retrieved company.

Corporate Information - A source for both Privately-Held and Publicly-Held U.S. and international company information.

Dow Jones Interactive Learning Center Includes an historical timeline and interactive tools as well as the genealogy of the Dow, along with a comparison of each company’s stock performance (excluding dividends) while in the industrial average with the DJIA’s performance for the same period.

EDGAR Online Critical business, financial and competitive details for the activities of every U.S. public company. Includes both free and subscription services. Includes real-time SEC EDGAR filings, full text searching for annual reports, etc. Or try Free EDGAR 

Fast Company  Strives to provide a big picture of the New Economy by presenting unique online tools and content as well as the full magazine archives online.

Federal Register (1994 to present) Official daily publication for Rules, Proposed Rules, and Notices of Federal agencies and organizations, as well as Executive Orders and other Presidential Documents.

Financial Times Search over 8.5 million articles from 3,000 periodicals worldwide, most of them for free.

Global Business and Finance Resources These are international business and finance-related links which on the whole provide work on multinational firms, international business practices, financial data and financial information. Academic links exist, but this section has been restricted to primarily industry research and analysis, especially those of international investment corporations.

Hoover's Online  Hoover's Online offers many resources for company research. Access to Hoover's Company Profiles - in-depth profiles on more than 3,400 companies. Search by location, industry, sales, and/or company type.

Internal Revenue Service

Morningstar.com  The leading provider of mutual fund, stock, and variable-insurance investment information, providing unbiased data and analysis, and candid editorial commentary.

Moody's Credit opinions, research, and ratings on fixed-income securities, issuers of securities and other credit obligations.

NAICS & SIC Codes  The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) has replaced the U.S. Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. NAICS was developed jointly by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico to provide new comparability in statistics about business activity across North America.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Rich meta-site includes: business plan templates, financial models and ratios, benchmarks. Search home page for "Vision to Reality," then select "Tools and Techniques."

Standard & Poor's Extensive site that includes a variety of information on securities and investments. Includes ratings services as well as investment, fund and research services.

U.S. Business Advisor A one-stop electronic link to all the information and services government provides for the business community. Includes resources on: Business Development, Financial Assistance, Taxes, Laws and Regulations, International Trade, Workplace Issues, and Buying and Selling. Includes a variety of forms. Created by the Small Business Administration (SBA), former vice-president Gore's National Partnership for Reinventing Government (NPR), and the U.S. Business Advisor interagency task force.

U.S. Census Bureau The Business section includes a link to the most recent Economic Census which provides a detailed portrait of the Nation's economy once every five years from the national to the local level.

U.S. Department of the Treasury The basic functions of the Department of the Treasury include:

  • Managing Federal finances;
  • Collecting taxes, duties and monies paid to and due to the U.S. and paying all bills of the U.S.;
  • Currency and coinage;
  • Managing Government accounts and the public debt;
  • Supervising national banks and thrift institutions;

U.S. Tax Code Online This document allows you to access the complete text of the United States Internal Revenue Code, Title 26 of the U.S. Code (26 USC) in a variety of ways. Hyperlinks have been embedded in the Code to permit following cross-references between sections with a simple mouse click. A WAIS-based full-text search engine allows you to quickly locate Code sections by content.
