Biography |
| William M. Logan was born on September 6, 1912 in
Brownwood, Texas. He graduated from Daniel Baker College in 1932. Earning his M.
Div. from the Austin Seminary in 1935, he was ordained a Presbyterian
minister the same year. In 1937 he received an M.A. from the University of
Texas. |
| Dr. Logan served as a Schreiner College Trustee for twenty-two
years. He was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville for nine years before moving
to Austin where he led the University Presbyterian Church. While in Kerrville he participated
in the creation of MO Ranch Presbyterian Retreat. Dr. Logan was also active in presbytery,
synod, and assembly work of the Presbyterian Church. |
| In 1966, the Schreiner College Board of Trustees commissioned
a new library building. W. A. Slater was the major contributor to the building fund and wished
that the building be named in honor of Dr. Logan, who was Slater's pastor at the time. |
| While serving at the church in Austin, Dr. Logan began receiving requests for copies of his
sermons. In response, he typed the sermons and placed them outside the sanctuary on Sunday
mornings. In 1996 he gave most of his collected speeches to Logan Library; upon his death,
the Logan family contributed the completed collection. |
| William Logan died in 1999. |
